DESCRIPTION:Saint Vincent de Paul will be collecting new and gently used items for local charities\, special works and its clothing stores\, Saturday May 11th and Sunday May 12th open between 8am – 6pm. A van will be parked on Markham Street behind the church. We will accept – all clothing\, footwear\, bedding\, drapery/towels both new and used; also children’s toys – new only. We will not be accepting baby items (e.g.\, car seats\, strollers\, etc.)\, construction materials\, dishes\, furniture\, nor books/video/audio/DVDs. A great opportunity for spring cleaning and to help the needy.

This year the parish will be sponsoring a Thanksgiving Food Drive to support the Good Shepherd Mission. Please consider donating canned tuna\, canned meat\, canned fruit or vegetables\, canned soups and stews\, peanut butter\, jam\, cereal teabags\, instant coffee\, cookies\, rice\, and crackers. Please no fresh fruits or vegetables or frozen food. Some parishes decorate their sanctuaries with flowers on the Thanksgiving weekend. Let us decorate ours with food to be offered to those in need. Please bring your non-perishable food donations to any of our Sunday Masses on the Thanksgiving weekend – October 8 & 9.

DESCRIPTION:The Parish Community of St. Peter’s is a very socially conscious and active community. The parish hosts many outreach programmes. Despite that\, we do not have a Social Justice Committee. Such a Committee would direct the parish’s efforts to study and understand the Church’s social teachings. In the hopes of starting a Social Justice Committee\, Mr. Porfirio Garcia\, from the Office of Faith Formation and Discipleship\, will be visiting our parish to lead an evening discussion on hope to start a Social Justice Committee in our parish. Anyone who might be interested in assisting with this project is invited this important meeting on Tuesday\, May 8th at 7:00 pm in the St. Paul’s room in the Centre at 830 Bathurst Street.
