To protect vulnerable people such as children or the elderly, its volunteers and its staff, the Archdiocese of Toronto requires parishes to screen volunteers for all ministries. For most ministries, screening is as simple as filling out a contact form. For ministries involving vulnerable groups, there are additional steps -a police check, reference checks and an interview. The supervisor of the ministry you wish to volunteer in will give your name to the Parish Volunteer Screening Committee. A member of the committee will contact you to start the screening process.
