\"\"<\/a>My Dear Brothers\/Sisters in Christ:<\/p>\n

Over the past few weeks, many of you have spoken to me about your concerns about coronavirus. This is indeed something that has caused all of us some anxiety due to the uncertainty about the situation.<\/p>\n

Throughout the many uncertainties of the past century\u2014World War I, the Great Depression and the Second World War\u2014the parish of St. Peter\u2019s has served the men and women of our community and been with them throughout the uncertainties of the times. The parish will also be here to serve you and your families throughout whatever the future might hold.<\/p>\n

No matter what comes, we are reminded in these difficult times that Jesus is our Saviour and He has destroyed death and overcome everything that we can or will suffer. He alone is our salvation and hope. This is the message of Easter as we prepare to celebrate His resurrection and victory over death. It is important that in the face of these uncertain times we all recall His words: \u201cIn this world you will have troubles. But take heart! I have overcome the world\u201d (John 16:33). <\/p>\n

Although it is very uncertain what the future will bring, at this time, in many countries we see churches closing temporarily as a result of the coronavirus and quarantines. Happily, the public health officials tell us that the risk remains low here in Canada and these measures are not necessary. In the event that such measures do become necessary, I would ask you to please keep in mind your parish\u2019s financial needs. The parish depends on your weekly offering to pay its operating expenses each week. <\/p>\n

In order to keep our parish running through these times, should you be unable to come to church, or be afraid to do so, please consider sending your weekly donation to the church or signing up for preauthorized giving. I have attached a form that would allow you to sign up for this. <\/p>\n

During this time, let us pray for all those who have contracted the coronavirus and their loved ones, that they may have a speedy recovery and know God\u2019s presence in their suffering. Let us also keep in our prayers all those health care professionals who care for them. <\/p>\n

Let us all keep before us the central reality of our faith in these uncertain times\u2014Jesus is our Savior. <\/p>\n
