Lenten Mission

This year, on the third, fourth, and fifth Sundays of Lent, we hear three stories from the Gospel of John that focus on the themes of conversion, healing, and the promise of eternal life. These three Gospels are at the heart of the Scrutinies of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and remind us that spiritual conversions is an ongoing process throughout our lives, especially during the Lenten season.
Led by Fr. Thomas Rosica, CSB, over five evenings, starting at 7 pm, this Lenten Mission will reflect on the three Scrutiny Gospel stories, Matthew’s Passion of Jesus as proclaimed on Palm Sunday and on the final evening, the parable of the Prodigal Son, followed by a Communal Penance Service with the opportunity for individual confessions.
Themes of our Lenten Mission:
- Wednesday, March 29, 2023: Matthew’s Passion Narrative
- Thursday, March 30, 2023: Prodigal Sons and Daughters – Luke 15
All are welcome to join in on this year’s Lenten Mission and share an experience of conversion, healing and the promise of eternal life that we receive through reflection on the Sacred Scripture.
