The Parish of St. Peter’s invites all non-Catholics who are interested in learning about the Catholic Faith to consider attending the Parish`s R.C.I.A. programme. “R.C.I.A.” stands for “Rites of Christian Initiation for Adults.” Those considering becoming Catholic are invited to visit our Sunday Eucharistic community to determine if this is a Christian community that they would like to join. Our Sunday Masses are celebrated Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Those who wish to become Catholic are invited to join the parish community every Sunday and attend the Tuesday evening Faith Formation sessions. Normally those who attend the parish’s R.C.I.A. programme would be those who live near the parish or are interested in joining the faith community of St. Peter’s. It is customary to attend the R.C.I.A. at the parish where one will be a member of that community. These sessions, which take place on Tuesday evenings from 7:15 to 8:45, compliment Sunday Mass attendance and assist those who wish to become Catholic to take their place in our Sunday Eucharistic community. Those who participate in the R.C.I.A. programme are either called “Catechumens” or “Candidates.” A “Catechumen” is a person who has never been baptized and is considering becoming Catholic. A “Candidate” is someone who has been previously baptized in another Christian denomination and is interested in considering being received into full communion in the Catholic Church. Father Jim Casper and Mr. Peter Williamson will be coordinators of the parish’s R.C.I.A programme this year. Sessions will begin on Tuesday, September 13 at 7:15 p.m. in the parish Centre at 830 Bathurst Street. For more information or to register, please call Fr. Michael at 416-534-4219.
