Confirmation (12-15 yrs)

Confirmation is a Catholic Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. It is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation for Catholics. It is most often associated with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

What is required to receive the Sacraments?

Most children receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in Grade 7 and must be 12 years old at the time of the celebration. Children must also have been baptized in the Catholic faith and received First Communion.  At St. Peter’s Confirmation is celebrated in late May or June.

If your child has not been baptized or has been baptized in a different faith or if your child has not yet celebrated First Eucharist and you wish to proceed with the Sacrament of Confirmation, please contact us online or e-mail Lynett Wilson for more information.

How do I enroll my child?

All children, both in Catholic and Public schools must be enrolled in St. Peter’s program to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Enrolment takes place during August and September. Download the enrolment form and bring it into the office or e-mail it to Lynett Wilson.  If your child was not baptized at St. Peter’s please provide a copy of the baptismal certificate when you register.

What preparation is required?

All Confirmation candidates, both in Catholic and Public schools, must volunteer a few hours of their time as well as take part in Sessions which will run on Saturday’s from 3 pm to 4:30 pm. Sessions begin in January and run throughout the Easter season at St. Peter’s. Additional information and specific dates can be found here.

Is there a cost?

While there is no cost required to receive a Sacrament, parents are asked to provide a donation which will cover the costs of books and materials.  The suggested amount is  $80.  These amounts are suggestions only and families may choose to give any amount.
