Living the Gospel by welcoming newcomers to Canada

Rashida endured years of domestic abuse while living in Egypt. Fearing her husband would abuse their children, she successfully applied for refugee status in Canada. Rashida arrived in Toronto, not knowing the language, what to do, or who could help. Fortunately, she met an Arabic speaker who told her about Catholic Cross cultural Services (CCS). CCS helped her navigate the immigration process and access the resources she needed. “CCS saved my life,” Rashida says. “Today I have money of my own, an apartment, and my children are finally safe and happy.”

Thus far our parish has raised $10,733 of our $44,300Please pray for the success of our campaign and give as generously as you are able to help us reach our goal.

Celebrating A Love That Cannot Wait

The celebration of Easter is for all Christians the highpoint of our year of faith. At Easter we celebrate the fact that Christ has risen from the dead and destroyed death for all who place their hope in Him. Easter means that, because of Christ’s resurrection, we shall not die but rather we are all invited to spend eternity with our loving God in heaven. At Easter we think of our loved ones who have died and we rejoice that they have been spared death because of Christ’s resurrection and are with Him in Heaven for all eternity. Ultimately, at Easter we celebrate that God loves us so much that He destroyed death so that He might spend eternity with each of us. Easter is the greatest celebration of God’s unconditional and undying love for each of us; a love so strong that death cannot destroy it. Continue reading

Living the Gospel through immediate mental health services

Mental health problems can escalate if not addressed quickly. That’s why the fve Catholic Family Services agencies in the Archdiocese of Toronto now ofer walk-in counselling. This initiative can often meet clients’ need without requiring longer term counselling. Clients report a clinically signifcant increase in confdence that they can tackle their problems. For some agencies, ShareLife is the sole funder of this important program. By supporting ShareLife, you’re helping restore hope to those in crisis.
