The Family that our parish is sponsoring is presently living safely in a refugee camp in Jordan. Because the government has made Syrian families who are in danger a priority, the application of this family’s visa is not being processed very quickly. We are still expecting their arrival. All those who are saving furniture and household goods for their arrival are thanked for their patience. Please stay tuned for more information.

Working wonders for the elderly…
Elva is a client in her late 70’s who spent her life overcoming the challenges of Spine Bifida. Despite her physical disabilities, Elva travelled the world as a music teacher and pianist for the National Ballet in Canada. Wheelchair bound for the last 25 years, Elva gradually found herself less able to continue playing the piano and doing the things she enjoyed. Last year, the Society of Sharing matched Elva with a friendly visitor, Adam a young university student, with whom she can converse with as though there were no age difference. Adam is seen as an encouraging and familiar friend and someone to share ideas with as well as assist her with her cell phone, computer and printer. With his help,Elva is able to go to out to the movies or see local sights. Because of Adam, Elva’s world has opened up and she is now reconnected to her community and able to share her incredible gifts of wit, intelligence, and positive attitude, giving her a renewed sense of meaning and purpose. This year, our support for ShareLife will help to expand this volunteer model into the Peel Region to assist seniors in this area. Last year ShareLife-supported agencies provided outreach programs that met the needs of over 2,200 seniors. This year, with your support, we can do more to help the elderly within our archdiocese.

Fourth Sunday of Easter (Second ShareLife Sunday) April 17, 2016
“The ShareLife campaign provides for the needs of our social service agencies, helps our brothers and sisters in Christ across the world, and supports the education of our clergy. It is important that we continue to support the ShareLife appeal, to provide for the needs of the marginalized both here in our communities and around the world. Last year our parish collected more than $18,000 for ShareLife. Thus far we have collected $10, 908.05. Please give generously to support this Archdiocesan charity. Regardless of their religious beliefs or personal background, ShareLife agencies meet people where they are, treating them with the dignity and respect we all deserve.” —Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto.

Working wonders in our neighbourhoods…
“I would like to take this opportunity to encourage the community of Peel to be a part of the healing journey with Catholic Family Services of Peel-Dufferin (CFSPD). It’s a great organization that demonstrates care, support and compassion toward our well-being and healing processes. Since I began with this agency, it has been a transformational experience. I have gained so much knowledge and insight about myself and others and have made great friends and enjoy meeting new people. I would like to thank ShareLife and CFSPD for allowing me this opportunity to be part of their family and am very grateful for all the services they provided for me and the community at large.” —Debbie, a client of the CFSPD sistering program.Over 39,000 individuals received help in getting their lives back on track through ShareLife-supported family services programs.
