Please Welcome the Parish’s Youth Minister – Ms. Alessya D’Anna

As a part of the Family of Faith Campaign now taking part in the Archdiocese of Toronto, money has been set aside to help poorer parishes hire a youth minister. Our own parish has received a subsidy from the Archdiocese to hire a youth minister who can animate activities for young people in our parish. This subsidy has made possible the hiring of a long-time parishioner Ms. Alessya D’Anna as a part-time youth and young adults minister. Alessya has worked for many years as the receptionist in the Paulist Centre. She knows the parish well and has many ideas for different ways of inviting young people in the parish to feel welcome and to be a part of our community. In the coming year she will bring us many exciting projects. If you think there are ideas you would like to share with her please do so by calling the office and leaving her a message. She will soon have a parish e-mail address at which you may contact her directly. Stay tuned!!!!

Thanksgiving Food-Drive for the Good Shepherd Mission

Thanksgiving-food-driveThe Good Shepherd Mission in Toronto looks after many of the city’s homeless and helps them find a warm meal all year round. Each year they rely on the generosity of Torontonians who are able to donate food to make their mission possible. This year the parish will be sponsoring a Thanksgiving Food Drive to support the Good Shepherd Mission. Please consider donating canned tuna, canned meat, canned fruit or vegetables, canned soups and stews, peanut butter, jam, cereal teabags, instant coffee, cookies, rice, and crackers. PLEASE NO FRESH FRUIT OR VEGETABLES OR FROZEN FOOD. Some parishes decorate their sanctuaries with flowers on the Thanksgiving weekend. Let us decorate ours with food to be offered to those in need!

Fall Fair 2015!

Fall-Fair-2015-R1-copy

St. Peter’s Fall Fair is our annual get together and fund-raising event.

It’s part flea market, part hidden treasure hunt, and a BIG part food festival! We are a multicultural parish and the foods on offer come from our amazing Italian, Portuguese, Filipino, Korean, and German parishioners… heck the whole world is on offer!

We are always open to donation, but please no junk. This is our big fundraiser for the year, and it costs us money to throw out leftover stuff. Think of the nice things you don’t need any longer and consider donating them to the St. Peter’s Fall Fair.

And we always need volunteers to handle everything from the bake sale to running the cash.

Fall Fair Schedule:
Saturday, October 3 – 12 Noon – 7 PM
Sunday, October 4 – 10 AM – 8 PM

Please Help Syrian Refugees by Donating to Project Hope

In response to the global refugee crisis, Cardinal Thomas Collins has launched “Project Hope,” a special emergency appeal. This 100-day campaign aims to raise $3 million in order to settle 100 refugee families in the Archdiocese of Toronto as soon as possible. The effort will also require 100 volunteer committees to assist with settlement services. To make a donation to support the appeal, visit: www.archtoronto.org or call (416) 934-3411.

You can also donate through our parish with a cheque made payable to St. Peter’s Church -Project Hope-Refugee Sponsorship.

We continue to pray for all those suffering, mindful of our call to welcome the stranger in our midst.  Those interested in assisting with volunteer committees should contact the Office for Refugees at (647) 780-0827.
