Dear Fr. Michael, fellow staff and parishioners of St. Peter’s,

It is with heartfelt sadness that I retire from my much-enjoyed ministry at St. Peter’s with you. I want to say goodbye and thank each one of you for the many days we have shared during my 8 year ministry. From the beginning, I have been touched by your personal generosity, friendship, dedication to prayer, support and cooperation for efforts made to expand and enrich the outreach to others in the parish and community. May God continue to bless you and your families and know that I hold each one of you in my daily thoughts and prayers as you have a special place in my heart.

– Sr. Gabriel Mary Riddle, cps

Profound THANKS to Sister Gabriel for her many years of FAITHFUL Service – Prayers for a BLESSED Retirement!

Sister Gabriel Mary Riddle, CPS, recently informed the pastoral council of her intention to retire for reasons of health and age effective August 1, 2023. For the past eight years, Sister Gabriel has been an essential member of the parish team, serving as the parish’s pastoral associate. Her ministry has involved bereavement ministry, spiritual direction, faith formation, retreats, work with the Social Justice Committee, and coordinating essential aspects of the parish’s Winter Welcome Table outreach that provides a meal for many in our community. The parish community is profoundly grateful to Sister Gabriel for all that she has been and done for our community. We pray that as she begins this new stage of her journey, the Lord will continue to bless her and keep her in his care.

The parish will host a social in the auditorium to celebrate Sister Gabriel following the 11:15 am Sunday Mass on August 13, 2023.

May God bless Sister Gabriel with a happy and healthy retirement for many years to come!

We pray for our Deceased

Invite a Friend to Become Catholic!

Decorative Image

As Christians, we are invited to share the Good News with others. Today this can be done by inviting someone to consider joining the R.C.I.A. in the parish where they would like to attend Sunday Mass. The “R.C.I.A.” is the Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults. Through the celebration of these rites in their local parish community, individuals become members of the Catholic Church through their local parish community. These rites are accompanied by a catechetical process which educates those who are becoming Catholic in the teachings of Christ and the traditions of the Church that He established to continue His mission and spread the Good News.

Here at St. Peter’s those who wish to become Catholic are invited to begin attending Mass in our parish community each Sunday. As they do this, they are accompanied by the R.C.I.A team and meet on Tuesday evenings to learn about our faith, deepen in a prayer relationship with Jesus, and discover how they can find their place in our Christian community through Sunday worship, service of neighbour and prayer. The R.C.I.A. at St. Peter’s will begin in September. The group will meet throughout the length of the school year. The Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) will be celebrated at Easter (March 30, 2024) and the group will continue to meet until the end of the Pentecost season (June 2024).

For those already Baptized in another Christian denomination a shorter path towards joining the Catholic Church may be possible, depending on their previous faith formation.

If you know anyone who might be interested in becoming Catholic, please invite them to consider joining the R.C.I.A. at the parish where they wish to attend Sunday Mass. If they wish to do so here at St. Peter’s, please have them give Fr. Michael a call for more information (416-534-4291, ext. 211).

Remember the Parish while away on vacation

Have a safe and enjoyable summer holiday. While you are away, the parish will continue to celebrate daily and Sunday Masses. Sadly, the bills do not take a holiday and still need to be paid for your Parish Church. Please continue to support your Parish Church throughout the summer. Happy Holidays!!!
