Anticipating the up-coming canonization of new saints this October, we are presenting a program on six (6) holy men and women who hopefully will be one day canonized. A variety of guest speakers will discuss the lives and spirituality of these great examples of holiness. on Wednesday evenings in the Church hall at 7:00 p.m. The first talk – John Henry Newman presented by Monsignor A. Sheehy on Wednesday, September 18. All are welcome!

Reading Group: Karol Wojtyla’s Love & Responsibility: A Study Group
Background: Love and Responsibility is a book written by Karol Wojtyla before he became Pope John Paul II and was originally published in Polish in 1960 and in English in 1981.
Discussion Topic: The talk will cover some of the basics of discerning spiritual movements and also the examine prayer.
Location/ Time: Sept 12- Nov 26, 2019, 7-9 PM. in the Parish rectory, 3rd floor.

St. Peter’s Christian Meditation Group
St. Peter’s offers a friendly and supportive atmosphere for meditation (silent prayer) following the tradition of John Main, OSB; the group is open to all regardless of religious affiliation, ethnicity or gender. Beginners welcome!
The group meets weekly on Saturdays @3:30pm in the Parish Rectory Office. Ring the bell and the receptionist will let you in and direct you to the meditation room.

New Beginnings – Bereavement Ministry Support Group
A six (6) week bereavement ministry support group will be starting at St. Peter’s rectory offices starting on Tuesday, September 10 to October 15 from 1:30 -3:30p.m. If you or someone you know is dealing with the loss of a loved one and would like to join this group, please register at the parish office (416-534-4219)

New Book Club at St. Peter’s
BaBl Book Club (Bathurst and Bloor); Join us at St. Peter’s Thursday September 26th at 7:00 p.m. for coffee and conversation. We will choose and discuss interesting books about religion, politics and current issues, and share our thoughts with new friends. Location: conference room, rectory.

American-Canadian Thomas King skillfully uses history, pop culture and his own experiences to articulate how we might find some mutual understanding and tell a new story. Sick and Shut-in Ministry Meeting
Formation and Training Day for Lectors—Saturday, September 7, 2019—9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
All Lectors are asked to attend a formation day that the parish will be hosting for this important ministry. It will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the church auditorium. Anyone who is interested in becoming a lector should contact Fr. Michael (416-534-4219) and plan on attending this workshop. Please confirm you attendance at least one week in advance by calling the parish office so that we may prepare enough handouts. Please bring your own lunch and refreshments
St. Peters Parish Fall Fair 2019 Event Committee
We are having a meeting for anyone who would like to volunteer to help with this event. Past volunteers and new volunteers are encouraged to attend this meeting. The meeting will provide information about the tasks that will need to be completed and provide opportunity for the community to ask any questions and/or suggestions they may have regarding this year’s event and also vote on the appropriate date for this year’s fair.
The meeting will be held on Thursday September 5, 2019 at 7pm in the St. Peter’s Parish auditorium. If you are unable to attend and would like to volunteer feel free to contact the church office via email or phone to be added to the list.
We look forward to seeing as many people as possible to make this event a success.
