“Go and Do Likewise.”

Good-Samaritan-242x300During this Year of Mercy, I have begun many homilies by quoting my favourite line from Pope Francis’ letter introducing the Year of Mercy. In case you do not remember that sentence, it states: “Jesus Christ is the face of the Father’s mercy.” The Pope goes on to state: “These words might well sum up the mystery of the Christian faith.” St. Paul says basically the same thing in today’s second reading from the Letter to the Colossians, as he states: “Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God.” In his letter, Paul goes on to state the God created the world with Christ and in the fullness of time sent Jesus into the world that He might redeem each of us “through the Blood of His cross.” Continue reading

St. Peter’s ShareLife Campaign 2016 exceeds goal by $3000

Writing-Thank-youThank you very much to the many people who donated so generously to St. Peter’s ShareLife campaign this year. Our final total was over $23,000.00 which exceeds our goal of $20,000 by more than $3000.00. This money goes to supporting Covenant House and more than 30 other agencies in our city. Thank you to Mr. Jeff Mesina for leading this year’s very successful campaign.

Summer Day Camp – Info Session

Camp logo 2On Thursday, July 14th at 7pm at St. Peter’s centre in the St. Paul’s Classroom, there will be an informational meeting for parents regarding the summer camp. All parents are encouraged to come and if they have any questions or concerns about the camp this will be the time to address them.  Hope to see many parents there.

Looking for Team Members for the R.C.I.A.

volunteers_needed2The parish will be hosting a workshop on the R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) on the weekend of August 20/21 2016. There is a need for practising Catholics who would like to be members of the team that prepares those adults who are interested in baptism. If you are a practising Catholic and would like to share your faith with others, please contact Fr. Michael at 416-534-4219, ext. 211.

First Confession and First Communion Teachers

volunteers_needed2The parish is looking for individuals who might be willing to help teach the First Confession and First Communion programme. Those who assist will be working with Ms. Lynett Wilson, the parish’s Sacramental Preparation coordinator. Interested volunteers would also be asked to complete a police background check in order to work with children in accordance with the Archdiocesan vulnerable people’s policy.
