Living the Gospel by providing a summer camp experience for young boys…

During his years as a young camper at Camp Ozanam, Niro experienced significant moments of personal growth in his life, which had a lasting impact on him. Later on, he became a staff counselor at Camp Ozanam, where he now has the opportunity to become involved in and positively influence the lives of current camp participants. “When you are with your brothers at camp, it is okay to show your feelings. These memories become important, because these kids really get to know each other and stand by each other. Thank you, ShareLife, for all the work you do to make this possible at Camp Ozanam!” says Niro. Last year, ShareLife-supported Camp Ozanam provided a unique camping experience for 600 boys from underprivileged homes in the GTA.

Deacon Penn Dawson, sj,  was ordained to the transitional diaconate this Saturday, May 20 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Deacon Dawson will be working in the parish during the coming school year. He is preaching at all of the parish Masses this Sunday. The parish welcomes him and his family this weekend. Please keep him in your prayers as we look forward to his working in our community beginning next September.

From Sunday, May 7 until Pentecost Sunday, June 4, the parish will be hosting a project of Evangelization. Members of the New Catechumenate Movement will be in front of our Church from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Sunday afternoons to witness to our Catholic faith to those who pass by our Church. They will provide music and faith sharing. Please drop by and witness.

Please note that the Parish Office will be closed on Monday, May 22 – Victoria Day. Mass that day will be at 10:00 AM in the Centre Chapel. There will be no adoration in the Chapel on this day.

Take a 6-week Bible study course on “The Bible and the Virgin Mary” to find out. This is a Bible Study produced by the Journey Through Scripture group, and it will be led by Loretta Silva. It will run every Thursday from 7-9 p.m. in the St. Paul Classroom at the Parish Centre, From May 25 – June 30. Sister Gabriel Mary Riddle cps will be facilitating a five week overview of the faith featuring the 5 week DVD/Discussion program called “Symbolon, the Catholic Faith Explained” on Wednesday  evenings at 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm from May 31 to June 28 in the Parish Centre. All are welcome.

Our parish – St. Vincent De Paul Society conference is taking requests for the registration of children who would like to attend summer camp. This is a one-week excursion – free of charge – for those children who would not otherwise be able to afford a summer camp experience. The parish will be making a pilgrimage to Martyr’s Shrine in Midland on Saturday, July 22, 2017.

We will leave the parish at 8:00 am and arrive at the Shrine at 10:00 am. This will give time for prayer and a tour before attending the noon Mass at the Shrine. We will have an hour to buy or eat a lunch that has been brought by each person. At 2:00 pm we will have a tour of the Huron Village and return by bus at 4:00 pm for an expected arrival at 6:00 pm.
