My dear brothers and sisters,

I wish to bring warm Christmas greetings to all of you and your families as faithful Catholics throughout the Archdiocese of Toronto. This is always a very special time of the year, a beautiful season for us to celebrate, reflect and joyfully retell the Greatest Story ever told – the Birth of Our Saviour Jesus in Bethlehem.

I hold a special place in my heart this Christmas for the people of the archdiocese as it is my first with you as your shepherd. It has been a joy getting to know so many of you since my arrival in March and know that all of you, whether we have met or have not yet had the pleasure of doing so, remain close in prayer this Christmas. The parish is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to partake in the joyful task of adorning this year’s Christmas Tree. Make sure to save the date: Friday, December 15th, at St. Peter’s Church, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. We invite all eager volunteers to join the festivities at the church, use the side door entrance to get inside, the entrance located near the archway. The monthly memorial Mass will take place on Friday, December 1, at 7:00 pm to commemorate the anniversaries of the deceased friends and family members. To enroll a family member for whom there is an anniversary of death, please call the parish office ahead of time during office hours.

There will be a second collection this weekend, for The Shepherds’ Trust. The mission of The Shepherds’ Trust is to help ensure that elderly and disabled priests are provided with sufficient financial resources to lead a dignified life after many years of ministry. Your generous gift will help our priests to maintain a modest but active and independent lifestyle in their retirement years. For priests who are ill or otherwise infirm, the Trust ensures they have access to nursing home facilities and medical care. Thank you for your support of this important work
